The angels share is a romantic term for the annual rate of whisky lost during cask maturation due to evaporation. As the liquid would evaporate into the heavens, it was dubbed the Angels' share. I heard this term used when making a visit to the world famous Highland Park distillery here in Kirkwall. For me, this we painting originally painted on canvas seemed to evoke the image of whisky disappearing up into the heavens. I have used a mixture of the colours of whisky along with the blue's of the sky above. I have also added in touches of gold leaf to the picture.
