Limited edition print/The forgotten Island of Swona

A limited edition print from an original watercolour painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue
printed on C-Type Matt paper in editions of 100 prints.

A few years ago I had a rare chance to visit the abandoned island of Swona. The last people to live there left in the mid 1970's, these days the island is home to a herd of feral cattle. This picture is of a few of the abandoned cottages on the island. You can also see the old stone sea dyke with a rusty metal buoy and 'ragged robin' flowers in the foreground. If you travel to Orkney with 'Pentland Ferries' to St Margarets Hope, you can see the island from the ferry.
