Limited edition print/Gan fir Spoots in Birsay, Orkney

A limited edition print from a watercolour painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue
printed on C-Type Matt paper in editions of 100 prints.

 Spoots are the Orkney name for razor clams. The outer shell is quite long and protects the white body inside. They live just below the sand. I used to go out with my dad to collect spoots using a long knife which you poked into the sand while walking backwards. It is quite a skill! You can see the man with his bucket collecting spoots in this picture.
