I imagined the house in the snow, full of memories from his life. The picture has an old map of Canada on the roof with a flock of geese passing over. In the window is John Rae and above the door is an image of a native inuit. In the foreground is John Rae's sledge and fiddle.

A limited edition print from a mixed media painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue
printed on C-Type Matt paper in an edition of 100 prints

 Dr John Rae was a famous Orkney explorer. He was born at the house of Clestrain in Stenness. This picture depicts the house with all its secret memories hidden within the image. I placed the house in a snow scene as that seemed to tie in with his time exploring  the arctic. Set amongst the snow you can see some of the items he would have taken with him on his travels such as his fiddle, clothes, snow shoes and his sledge.
