Original painting/Stromness pier memories

An original mixed media painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue.

This original painting is an overall size of 495X405mm with the image size being 380X285mm. The painting is on heavy watercolour paper and is mounted on to a cream mountboard backing. I have left the rough/deckled edge of the painting as it is. This painting is glazed and framed with a white wood box moulding, size 30X30mm.

This image is of looking through the metal pillars that hold up the older part of Stromness pier. I was really interested in all the patterns that the water reflections made against the structure on this sunny day. Then I started to think about the old men who used to work around the pier so I have added them into the water below along with thier skiff or small fishing boat. This mixed media image is full of texture with added gesso, vintage photographs, silver leaf and acrylic paint.
